Amcorp was incorporated in Malaysia on 26 April 1910 under the Companies Ordinance 1889 as a limited company under the name of The Temerloh Rubber Estates Limited. After our listing on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in 1961, Amcorp diversified into oil palm and cocoa plantation. In 1992, after disposing a substantial portion of its plantation activities, Amcorp acquired a 40% stake in AMMB Holdings Bhd (“AmBank Group”) and a 30% stake in Amcorp Properties Berhad (“Amprop”), then known as Arab-Malaysian Development Berhad, transforming itself into a financial services and property development company.
Amcorp was privatized in November 2006. In 2008, AmBank Group completed the formation of a strategic alliance with Australia and New Zealand Bank, which is among the top 50 banks in the world. It is now the 5th largest local banking group in Malaysia.
